It’s January 1st, 7:00 AM. This is it—the year you achieve your goals, gain the freedom you’ve always desired, and finally make something of yourself. You sit at your desk, laptop open, ready to work on your new business. At least, that’s what you told yourself.

Fast forward three hours and 48 YouTube videos later, and you’re still sitting there with no real progress made. Sound familiar? Most people want to get fit. Most people want to build a successful business. But the harsh reality is, most people won’t. Why? Because their brains are scattered and unfocused. And if your brain is scattered, how do you expect to achieve anything great?

To build anything great, you need the ability to focus—focus on one particular task for hours, days, even weeks on end. But if your brain is constantly distracted, how can you expect to do that? Here’s how to reclaim your focus.

Part One: You're Distracted

We can all agree that focus is vital for building anything great. So, what is focus? It’s the ability to dedicate 100% of your attention to one singular thing. If you’re not focused, you’re distracted. And we’re all losing the ability to focus. We can’t do anything anymore without multiple streams of input.

You’ve probably already scrolled through the comments or checked your phone while reading this email. When you do things like that, you’re training your mind to need overstimulation. And with a brain like that, how can you expect to stay focused?

Here’s a simple step to start reclaiming your focus:

Just switch off your phone. Leave it in another room for 24 hours. You’ll soon realize you’re addicted—not to the phone, but to distraction. If you keep feeding this addiction, you won’t reach your goals.

To break this addiction, follow a 30-day protocol. Each day, split your time into 30-minute segments. Track what you do in each segment. By the end of the month, you’ll have clear data on what pointless activities are eating up your time. Then, eliminate those distractions. It sounds simple, but what have you really got to lose?

Part Two: You’re Probably Confused

Most people don’t know what to do with their lives because they don’t know what they want. When you don’t know what you want, you can’t know what to do. This confusion keeps you stuck in what’s known as the Anti-Zone.

The Anti-Zone is that stage where you don’t know what to do but feel like you need to do something. To escape this stage, you need to enter "The Zone." The Zone is a state of hyper-focus where you’re deeply immersed in a task, losing track of time and the outside world.

How to get into The Zone:

Define your goals clearly. Don’t overcomplicate it. Sit and think until you know what you want. Once you have your goal, figure out the steps to get there. Take action on these steps every day, and you’ll stay in The Zone until you reach your destination. The Zone is simply a state of intense focus on a specific task with steady progress being made.

Part Three: Your Diet is Messed Up

We operate within a system: wake up, go about your day, sleep, repeat. This system has inputs and outputs. Inputs like food and sleep directly affect your outputs—your performance.

If you sleep for two hours tonight, you’ll perform poorly tomorrow. It’s the same with diet. If you eat junk, you’ll think like junk. And if you think you can build something great with a brain running on junk, think again.

To improve your outputs, fix your inputs:

Eating well and getting enough sleep will make achieving your goals ten times easier. Don’t neglect your diet. Give yourself good inputs, and the great outputs will follow, along with a clear, unf**ked brain.
